Sufganyaot (probably not spelled right)

Hanukkah (the holiday commemorating an anti-Occupation struggle) in Israel means many things, including a time of fancy doughnuts! These special treats aren’t only jam or cream-filled and decorated with flourishes, but sometimes also augmented with plastic injection tubes holding extra chocolate cream or other delights!

One night we were walking down the street in south Tel Aviv, and a group of men were just finishing up work & going out to the sidewalk to eat their fancy doughnuts, so Eran asked “hey, where’s mine?” thereby precipitating an exaggerated display of politeness as one of the young men chased Eran down the street, offering his half-eaten doughnut!
